Project Overview
We undertook a large garnet abrasive classification project for an abrasive material manufacturer. Garnet serves widely as abrasive media for waterjet cutting, sandblasting and surface treatment, which requires strict multi-grade particle separation. The client needed a full garnet screening production line with high continuous throughput and stable grading accuracy.
The project specification calls for 20 tumbler screens, with a stated capacity of 60 TPH per unit. The target abrasive grades are described as 12, 24, 36, 60, 80 and 120 mesh. Feed condition, screen arrangement and the capacity basis must be confirmed when applying these figures to another project.
Customer Screening Challenges & Requirements
The client required continuous classification of garnet abrasive into the target grades. The equipment selection needed to account for feed size, abrasion, particle breakage, screen access and the available steel-platform layout.
Our Custom Solution Design
The selected screening equipment is arranged on the client’s steel workshop platform, as shown in the site photo. The project uses 20 units with multi-layer screens. The required abrasive grades, separation stages and product outlets should be checked against the approved configuration.

Detailed Equipment Configuration

| Motion type | Low-speed reciprocating tumbler motion |
| Installation | Mounted on multi-layer steel platform |
Project Benefits
Protect Garnet Particle Integrity
The screening motion is selected to limit unnecessary particle impact during classification. Particle breakage and fines generation should be assessed using the actual garnet feed and operating settings.
High Throughput with Stable Classification
The stated capacity is 60 TPH per unit. This figure should be read with the feed specification, screen openings and target grading requirements; it is not a guaranteed output for every garnet application.
Extended Screen Service Life
Garnet is an abrasive feed, so screen construction, inspection access and replacement planning are part of the equipment specification. Screen life and maintenance cost should be evaluated from operating records.
Compact Platform Layout
The 20 units are installed on the factory steel platform. The layout connects the screening stage with upstream feeding and downstream product handling, with access for inspection and maintenance.
Pre-Shipment Inspection & Commissioning
Before delivery, we performed complete factory inspection for every tumbler screen: checking screen frame strength, mesh tension, sealing and transmission system, plus full no-load running tests. After equipment arrived on site, our engineers guided installation, alignment and commissioning. We adjusted stroke and rotation parameters to match the client’s garnet feed condition.
Project Outcome
The line is configured to separate garnet into the stated target grades using 20 screens. Actual capacity, particle breakage and product grading should be checked against material tests and commissioning records. The project figures provide a configuration reference for similar duties.
Note: Actual throughput and grading result are affected by raw garnet feed size, moisture and feeding consistency. Material testing is recommended for custom tumbler screen sizing.
